Trial lawyer and commercial litigator practicing in the federal and state courts of New York and New Jersey. Represents corporations and individuals in a wide range of business disputes: from the defense of claims of white collar criminal or regulatory violations to sophisticated commercial disputes to the defense of toxic tort and product liability claims. Defends civil and criminal actions, including class actions, in the fields of RICO, securities regulation, antitrust enforcement, taxation, ERISA and CERCLA. Represents corporate and individual clients in arbitrations and mediations to achieve cost-effective resolutions of business and regulatory claims. Counsels corporate clients who are victims of criminal activity, and individual clients who are the subject of regulatory scrutiny or criminal investigation. Served as deputy chief of the Criminal Division in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. Has taught trial practice at the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and at various law schools such as the Harvard Trial-Practice Workshop. Contributing author to Rakoff and Goldstein, RICO: Civil and Criminal Law and Strategy and to Vairo, Federal Civil Practice (NYSBA). Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, a past trustee and officer of the Federal Bar Council, member of the New York Council of Defense Lawyers, and listed in the business litigation section of Superlawyers of New York.
